Waterfall Braids and Rainy Hawaiian Days
Shania was the trooper-est of all troopers. She flew from freezing Wisconsin to get married on the sunny south shore of Kauai, but Mother Nature had other plans. She had put all of her heart and soul into planning the most perfect day, and then it started - the forecast was calling for a 100% chance of rain and storms for her wedding day. We had planned her waterfall braid months in advance, not knowing it was to foreshadow the sheer amount of water that would fall from the sky on her wedding day.
She took it in stride, though. When I arrived at her villa at Koloa Landing Resort in Poipu, she was wide-eyed and bushy-tailed, cooking her bridesmaids breakfast (yes, on HER wedding day, AFTER already going to the gym, mind you), folding laundry, and organizing all the things. As we sat near the window in her ocean view villa, the waves were crashing down on the jagged rocks of Poipu like I had never seen them do before. This was going to be a day for the books.
They say that rain on your wedding day is a blessing; well, these two are set for life. The photographs stay it all. These two are deeply in love and will tread any stormy waters with grace as they walk together in this lifetime. Shania & Aaron, I couldn’t be more happy for you or more grateful that you allowed me to be a special part of your incredible, rainy day. May you always chase waterfalls.
